4-28-15 1st Spanish Mackerel of the year caught today.

The fishing season has started to get better and better with each day. Today I took some very good repeat clients out for a fun filled day of fishing. We had intentions on running offshore to find some Kingmackerel and bottom fish but due to the north winds we decided to try our luck near the beach. It was a success. We landed the first Spanish Mackerel of the year and ended the day with 23 fish in the cooler. We had a mix of Atlantic Bonito, Blue fish, and Spanish Mackerel. Also saw some big schools of poggies which is our staple bait fish. This is great because the King Mackerel and Cobia normally show up like clock work around Mother's day. We are booking up fast. So please if you want a great fishing trip call me today and reserve your spot. We have 3 boats to accommodate you and any type fishing you may have on your bucket list. Thanks Capt. Kevin Sneed 910-448-3474 www.riggedandreadycharters.com image image image image

4-22-15 Holden Beach Inshore Fishing Charters with Capt. Kevin Sneed

The inshore waters of Holden Beach North Carolina are starting to really heat up. Ran a trip with some repeat clients Eric and Terry Burns and for the first 4 hours of the trip we only landed 3 short flounder and 1 short red drum. We headed to a spot that normally holds fish most of the year and I figured we could probably pull a few red's out to end the day. What I didn't expect was to sit in that spot for over an hour and catch red fish on almost every cast. We landed over 25 to 30 redfish off 1 dock. This tells me that the Redfish are still swimming in big schools and once we locate them they are normally hungry. This can make for some really fun fishing on light spinning tackle. Give us a call if your wanting to go catch some fish.  910-448-3474 image image image image

4-20-15 Full Day Offshore

Ran offshore on Saturday and the conditions were a little tough. We dodged rain storms most of the day but that didn't keep the fish from biting. We were fishing in an area that holds tons of grouper but legally we can't keep them so we targeted Monster Black Sea Bass and other bottom fish. The Jacks ate us alive and gave everybody on the boat a good fight. We ended our trip with our limits of bottom fish. Now is the time to Book your trip for Live Bait Fishing for King Mackerel and Cobia. I suspect within the next two weeks thru Mothers day weekend there will be a strong migration of these fish cruising our Brunswick County Beaches looking for an easy meal. I'm getting reports of tons of bait all over the beach just south of us in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. That's a good sign for what's to come. Check back often on our Fishing Reports page to see what we've been catching. Capt. Kevin Sneed 910-448-3474 www.riggedandreadycharters.com image image image image

4-2-15 No April Fools About It!!!!!!!

Ran a trip today and smoked the Redfish. First cast landed a nice Black Drum. The mood was set to have a great day and that's what we did. Except we went 3 straight hours without a single bite.  In the last 45 minutes of the trip we landed 9 Red Drum and 1 Trout. It was a great way to end the day. image image image image image

12-24-14 Merry Christmas and Happy New Years

image Just want to wish all my customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. My wife Kim and I were married on November 23rd and we took our honeymoon down to the Florida Keys. I must say the fishing is incredible there. The wind blew for two weeks straight but we were fortunate enough to get out fishing for 2 days and I must say I was out fished by a girl but at least it was my wife. We enjoyed our time down in Florida but we were very thankful to be coming back home to Holden Beach North Carolina. We're both back now on our daily grind and can't wait for spring time to roll around. On another note the monster bluefin tuna have arrived in Morehead City North Carolina and if everything goes as planned we will be towing the boat up there to try our hand at catching one of those giant fish. We have gone through a lot of preparation trying to get RIGGED & READY. image image image image image image

9-14-14 Mid-September Fishing Specials

Hey folks. I have a few days open this week and would really like to fill those spots. The fishing has been incredible over the past few days!!! The most popular trip right now is either a 5hr or 6hr trip. On this trip we will be trolling live bait on light tackle for Monster Spanish Mackerel.  Also I expect the big Bull Drum to show in good numbers any day now. A few have already showed up and they will defiantly give you a run for your money. If you have SHARK FEVER then you have come to the right place. Plenty of big sharks on the beach right now. Come on down to Holden Beach, N.C. And and jump on the boat with Capt. Kevin Sneed to see what Mid September fishing is all about. image image image

9-6-14 From the Backwater to the Bluewater the Fishing has been Good

The fishing has been great on most days with just a couple days of slow fishing over the past month or so. My most popular trip right now is to go and target MONSTER SPANISH MACKEREL on a 5 hour nearshore charter. On this trip you will have a blast fishing with light spinning tackle while catching citation size Spanish. Also the Big Bull Drum should be showing in good numbers as soon as we can get a good cool front with some consistent cool North winds for a few days. That is a recipe for some great fishing along Holden Beach, North Carolina. Now is also a great time to go Wahoo Fishing. This full moon in September always produces good action for wahoo along the break in the Gulf Stream. This trip is only for my Salty Dawg Hardcore Fisherman as the ride can be long and the battle between You and the Wahoo can be very intense with Blood, Sweat and Tears mixed in. Check out the photos of some good clients who have been fishing with Capt. Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready  Charters. imageimage image image image image image image image image image

8-2-14 Now Is The Time To Book Your Charter For This Up Coming Fall!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody. I would just like to thank all of my repeat clients for their continued business over the years.  It's amazing watching some of your kids grow up and hearing the stories of  events that have happened to you over the past year or so. I truly love my job and have the passion to put people on fish every day. I'm really starting to get excited about the fishing this up-coming Fall. If you have never experienced fishing with Rigged and Ready Charters out of Holden Beach, NC in the Fall time then your missing a great time on the water.  With the water temps cooling down and they huge mullet run we have down our coast, it can spark a recipe for some Great fishing that can also be fun for the whole family. Over the past couple weeks I have been restricted to mostly shark fishing due to the rough weather conditions. With winds blowing and heavy rain it has pushed the Spanish Mackerel way offshore along with several other species. But don't be fooled the Sharks are one of my favorite fish to catch ex specially for the group that has never been before. The big Black Tip Sharks are very acrobatic and can really put on a show, not to mention having one almost spool every bit of line of your reel. Check out the pictures below and if you have time give me a call at 910-448-3474 and let's get you set up for a fun filled day of fishing Captain Kevin Sneed    www.riggedandreadycharters.com image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image

5-12-14 Love It When A Plan Comes Together

Today was a day where everything went perfect. My client this morning was also a Charter Boat Captain from Michigan and guides trips on the Great Lakes for mostly Salmon!!  Lol. The pressure was on to represent North Carolina and how " WE ROLL". He said first thing, you think we can go catch a shark. I looked at him and just smiled. Any way long story short first bait in the water we landed a 250lb bull shark. Then we left there and set out looking for Cobia and King Mackerel.  Ended the day with 2 monster Kings and 2 very respectable Cobia on a 4 hour 1/2 day trip. Check out the pictures below. image image image

4-27-14 Gulf Stream jigging And Bottom Fishing!!!!!!

Took a very good group of guys out on Sunday to the Gulf Stream. We started out trolling and the first few hours were extremely slow.  We did manage to pull out about a 30 lb King Mackerel while we were trolling and then we all decided to do some bottom fishing because our plan was to fill the coolers up and that's what we did!!! We switched over to Jigging and the first line down got hammered by a mid 40lb Jack. It was fish on from the time we started bottom fishing till the time we stopped. Our trophy fish of the day was a nice 45lb Cobia. Ended the day with a box slam full of fish!!!!! image image

4-1-14 Gulf Stream Fishing Aboard The Rigged and Ready!!!!!!!

Today we had an incredible adventure. We left the dock at 5am sharp and pointed the bow offshore in search of Wahoo some 78 miles from the dock!!!  Our crew consisted of some very good fishermen and when it comes to fishing for Wahoo and Tuna it takes ( TEAM WORK). Our biggest fish came off the long line and absolutely blistered the line off the reel. One of the best runs I've heard in a awhile. Long story short it took 4 grown men taking turns to battle this one Wahoo. This fish had plans and he wasn't about to give up! The amazing part of this fish tale is he was only a mid 50 lb fish. All in all it was a great day  and we were blessed with good weather and nice fish. Check out the pictures below imageimageimage

1-1-14 Happy New Years

Happy New Years everybody, may the good Lord bless us all. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming season. It was great last year seeing so many repeat customers coming back time after time. It's amazing how many people I've come to know over the years and how they have inspired me to continue to do the best I can on every trip!!! Seeing a kid smiling after he or she catches a trophy fish is what it's all about. We as adults need to keep the next generation of kids Hunting and Fishing. It gives them something to look forward to and keeps them out of trouble!!!! Below is a few pics of fish from a few trips over the past few weeks. BLACK SEA BASS SEASON WILL REMAIN OPEN THIS YEAR and we don't have run far to fill the coolers up. So if you get a chance come on down and let's go fishing!! Capt.Kevin Sneed

11-8-13 The Fall King Mackerel Fishing Has Been Incredible.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello my friends. Here is a quick update of the fishing over the past couple of weeks. During the last week of October we absolutely crushed the King Mackerel and I wished I had taking more Pics. We were catching close to 30 fish a day.  Just as fast as you could get the baits out. We also had a little surprise on Oct. 30th. We landed a very nice Sailfish and a 43lb Cobia. As far as the fishing goes for the first week Of November I have not had the opportunity to go. The wind has been gusting 20 plus everyday. Although it looks like this weekend the weather is going to layout and get very nice. Quick Note: This is the time of year is when the Speckled Trout move into the Backwater. And if you have fished with me before then you know or have probably heard how much I love catching Trout. If your interested in booking a backwater trip don't hesitate to call me!!!! This fishing can be extremely fun on light spinning tackle and is a great trip for the kids.

Mid September Fishing Report and Pics.

Hey there, if your reading this you either have been fishing with me before or you might be interested in taking a fishing trip!!! Either way all I can say is fishing has been extremely good the past month or so nearshore. With the cooler temps. its my guess the King Mackerel will show any day and when they do they will be hungry. Gulf stream fishing has been a little slow but will get really good mid October thru December. You can expect to catch Wahoo in the 40 to 60lb class with blackfin tuna mixed in. Over the past several weeks my most popular trip has been targeting Monster Spanish Mackerel on the 1/2 Day Nearshore Charter. On this charter we will be using live finger mullet and slow trolling around Natural and artificial reefs within sight of land. This can be a fun trip for the advanced angler or for kids that have never fished before. Also this time of year we have several different options while fishing nearshore. You could expect to catch Flounder, Trout, Redfish, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Sharks, and a few other different species. 7-4-13 thru 7-16-13 Mid July Fishing Report

The fishing has been incredible this month. It seems like the weather has been crazy but that don't stop us from fishing in the backwater. We have been landing anywhere between 10 and 15 redfish on a 1/2 day Backwater Fishing Charter with good numbers of Speckled Trout and Flounder in the mix. When the weather allows us to venture out into the ocean we have been catching several King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Sharks, and an assortment of Bottom Fish. Today we landed a 32lb King Mackerel while Shark Fishing near the beach. Check out the pictures below. 7-8-13 7-8-13a 7-10-13 7-16-13

6-24-13 thru 7-3-13 Backwater Fishing Continues

Over the past month the weather has been nothing but high winds and lots of rain, but that doesn't stop the fish from biting. Just check out the pictures below. If you enjoy catching fish on light tackle then a Backwater trip might be right up your ally. The way things are looking right now if the wind does stop blowing the ocean will take several days to lay out and settle down. The Offshore Fishing should be good but close to the beach will not.  I will be in the Backwater over the next several days so check back to see what we have been catching. 2-26-13a 6-26-13 6-27-13 6-29-13 7-2-13 7-3-13

6-4-13 Monster Cobia Fishing

Today I had the opportunity to run a 1/2 day nearshore trip and a 3/4 day offshore trip. On the first trip this morning my crew wanted to go and catch some good ol black Sea Bass. About an hour into the trip I heard a guy yell, look at the big ol shark. Well it was a monster Cobia cruising right behind the boat. The fish decided to eat a live pogy and we landed the fish after about a 30 minute fight.  On the second trip we ran offshore to some live bottom that always produces quality fish for me this time of year. We ended up catching 3 monster Cobia, 6 Amber jacks and a ton of bottom fish. 6-4-13 6-4-13a 6-4-13b

6-1-13 Full Day Offshore Charter

Well I can tell you that the Spanish Mackerel are here and they are thick!!!! Today was perfect, weather was beautiful and the BIG SPANISH were biting. Check out Randy Sizemore from the Elkin, NC area with his first Spanish Mackerel this morning. We also spent the last hour and a half shark fishing and were able to land six or seven decent sharks. 5-29-13 Gulf Stream Mahi Fishing Is On Fire

Today I had one of my best repeats book a Gulf Stream trip for just him and only him. We left the dock 5am sharp and pointed the bow offshore. After a 50 mile run we were both ready to put the baits out and start fishing, the anticipation was killing us. To my surprise I actually was able to put a whole spread out but it wasn't long and we were doubled up with a pair of decent fish. We ended the trip with several Mahi and caught a few Amber Jacks while jigging around a wreck. 5-29-13

5-27-13 Big Cobia Roaming The Beaches

Wow is all I can say about the last four days. We have been specifically targeting Cobia and what ever else might decide to eat a live bait on our 1/2 day near-shore fishing charters. Over the past 4 days I bet we have caught at least 120 sharks including 1 Tiger Shark over 10 ft long.  Tons and Tons of bottom fish as well. If your getting ready to head to the coast and want to have some fun just give me call and I will make sure you catch fish and have a good time.  Check out the pictures below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5-25-13 5-26-13 5-27-13 5-27-13a 5-27-13b

5-20-13 Half Day Nearshore Trolling

The fish are defiantly biting. Today we went out and smashed the fish. We started at 12pm and had a slow start but finished strong catching fish 2 and 3 at a time trolling. We had a mixed bag of fish today. Blue Fish, Spanish Mackerel, False Albacore, and Sharks. This crew today had an absolute blast and are already wanting to book another trip this week on Thursday. 5-20-13

5-18-13 Gulf Stream Fishing with Rigged and Ready Charters

Today was the most interesting day I've  had in a long time. joining me was a crew from Greensboro, NC. and they had me laughing all day with stories from there past. Singing songs, dancing and just having an absolute good time. The fishing started out great with a few Mahi and a Black Fin Tuna and slowly died off as the day went on. All in all it was a perfect day for fishing with winds were light and slight out of the South. This up coming week I will be running a few trips on the beach fishing for spanish Mackerel and Sharks.5-18-13

5-17-13 Gulf Stream With Rigged and Ready Charters

Joining me today was a great crew from Summerfield, NC and we had non stop action all day. The Mahi are thick and the Wahoo are still chewing. We boated 7 Mahi and 2 Wahoo. We had several short strikes and lost a big wahoo after he dumped over 400yrds of line on the first run.  The season is in full swing now so if you get time come on down and join us for a fun-filled day on the water. If its fishing in the backwater or fishing all way in the gulf stream I WILL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD TIME AND CATCH SOME FISH!!!! 5-17-13

5-16-13 Half Day Backwater Fishing

Today went perfect. Had a couple from Mcleansville, NC. and they absolutely had a ball. The Redfish bit good for us along with several other fish. I will be running Gulf Stream trips for the next few days and will try to post a report by next Monday. Here are a few pics from today's trip. 5-16-13 5-16-13a

5-10-13 Full Day Offshore Fishing

Today I had some really good repeats join me for a Full Day Fishing Charter.  We left out at 5am and headed offshore to target Grouper and what ever else might decide to bite. We caught plenty of fish, Mahi-Mahi, King Mackerel, Amberjacks, Black Seabass, BIG SHARKS, Pink Snapper,  and had a great day on the water with good friends and beautiful weather. 5-10-13

5-8-13 Holden Beach Shark Fishing with Captain Kevin Sneed

Today was a special day for a young man named Luke who is 10 years old and his mother Lynda. Before we started the day Luke said he really wanted to catch a Shark. So that's what we went fishing for. Took a little while to find some decent bait but over the years  I've learned if you're not confident in your bait, find some fresh if you can. It wasn't 15 minutes before we were hooked up with our first Shark and he was a stud. Estimated weight around  125 lbs. Not to bad to be fishing on the beach in  20 ft. of water. After bringing the Shark aboard to take pics. we sucessfully released her to swim off and to fight again another day.  Luke told me after the end of the trip this was the best day of his entire life. 5-8-13 5-8-13a

5-7-13 Backwater Fishing For Redfish

I must say with all the different weather patterns we've had over the past week I'm surprised the fish are even biting. I took a couple out today from the Greensboro, NC area and we caught a few redfish but we had to work hard for it.  Pictured below is Brooke Townsend with her first red fish. Oh yeh I almost forgot, she out fished her husband Tyler.. LOL 5-7-13

5-3-13 Holden Beach Backwater Fishing With Capt. Kevin Sneed

Great charter this morning. I think the harder the wind blew the better the fish bit. We ended the trip with 9 redfish, 2 sheepshead, and 1 black drum. Would have fished longer but the rain hit us hard towards the end of the trip. 5-3-13 5-3-13a 5-3-13b

4-28-13 Backwater Fishing Update

Ran several backwater trips over the past few days and the fishing has been very consistent. I can't say the fishing has been on fire but we are catching anywhere in-between 7 to 10 Red and Blackdrum with a Flounder or a few Speckled Trout mixed in on our 1/2 day Backwater Fishing Charters. Looks like the wind is going to continue to blow like crazy for this upcoming weekend and will have to cancel all my offshore trips. If you want to have good time on the water and catch some inshore fish I should have a few openings left this week. Here is a few pics from this past week end. Capt. 4-23-13 Backwater Fishing With Capt. Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready Charters

Mr. Neil and his Father in law Rudy joined me today for a Half Day Backwater trip and the fish were biting almost as fast as we could get the lines out. The first two hours was non stop action and then slowed down as the tide was changing. To my surprise Rudy asked me "do you catch catfish in these waters", I replied not often and almost instantly he set the hook and low and behold there was a 3lb Blue Cat on the end of the line. I thought that was kinda cool.. They did an awesome job today and look forward to seeing them again in the future.. 4-23-13b 4-23-13a

4-17-13 Commercial King Mackerel Fishing aboard the Rigged and Ready

Today was an exciting day for me. The weather was perfect and unfortunately I did not have a charter so I decided to try my hand at commercial king mackerel fishing today. For me its a way I can make a little extra money and stay up to date on with whats going on offshore. The King Mackerel have showed up and it should only get better from here on out. Another quick note.  The water temperature on the beach was 68 degrees and I also saw schools of glass minnows. That's a good combination for a Spanish Mackerel bite coming real soon. The Blacktip  and Spinner Sharks Show up like clock work when the Spanish arrive.  If you have any Questions on how to book a trip or need any info contact me @ 910-448-3474. Capt. 4-14-13 Gulf Stream Fishing Charter with Captain Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready Charters

4-14-13   Tough day today.  The weather was perfect this morning. We ran 30mph the whole way some 60+miles offshore to the Gulf Stream. The water temp. was perfect and we were marking bait but the Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna just Didn't want to co-operate. We did manage to hook two really nice wahoo in the first 30 minutes of fishing and were only able to boat one. A very decent 55+lb Wahoo to get the day started. After all that had happend right out the gate I figured we were in for multiple hook ups through the day.. Man was I wrong. The winds picked up out of the east and the fishing shut down.  We did manage to boat one Blackfin Tuna around 1 pm and that was it.. I will have to say that has been one of my slowest days of fishing in the Stream in over 5 years. But hey every dog has his day and I cant wait to get back out there. The most important part of this trip is that Martin and his dad had a great day and he can now say that he has caught the biggest fish of his life, a 55+lb WAHOO.. 4-14-13 4-14-13a

4-11-13 Half Day Backwater Fishing with Captain Kevin of Rigged and Ready Charters

Today Eric Pittman and his two sons joined me on a 4 hour Backwater Fishing Trip. We started out a little slow but after about an hour we were catching Red Drum as fast as we could possibly reel them in. It was to the point where we were just using 1 fishing rod. What a great trip with some very good people.. Eric Pittman is a pastor of a church in Michigan and the good lord was definitely looking over us today. The weather was perfect and fish were biting. FISH ON!!!!!!! 4-11-13

4-8-13 Half Day Family Fishing Charter with Captain Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready Charters in Holden Beach, NC.

4-8-13  Today I took a group from Michigan and this was their first time visiting Holden Beach, NC. The weather was perfect and fish were biting.. We were targeting black sea bass and this time I had my trolling gear on the boat just in case we spotted some bluefish or false albacore.. We started out catching Sea Bass two at time and then all of a sudden we were hooked with with a blue fish. I knew it was about time for them!!!  SO we decided to switch over and start trolling. After about 45 minutes with out a strike we went back to bottom fishing and catching Sea Bass on every drop with light tackle and small jigs...THIS CAN BE AN EXTREMELY FUN TRIP IF YOU HAVE SMALL KIDS THAT JUST WANT TO CATCH FISH. 4-8-13 4-8-13a

4-7-13 Full Day Offshore with Rigged and Ready Charters

4-7-13     Well today was a special day. I had the opportunity to take a young man named Will Wright and his good friend Cherry Evans out to do some hard-core fishing 50+ miles offshore.. It was a little rough on the way out but the weather was going to be laying out through the day. Once we arrived we started trolling and the only fish we were catching were false albacore and sharks. Well we had enough of that so we tied some 7 to 10 oz, jigs on and began working them thru the water column in 100ft of water. And it began. We were hooking up fish on every drop and these were not small fish either. They were all in the 30 to 50 lb class.. Mostly amberjacks but after losing 3 big cobia beside the boat we finally nailed one at the end of trip.. 4-7-13a 4-7-13

4-2-13 Half Day Nearshore

4-2-13  Today I had the opportunity to run a Half Day charter with 5 kids and their mom... And let me tell you these kids were tough!!! The winds were a steady 15 to 20 knots but it didn't bother them one bit. Once we arrived and set the anchor it wasn't long and they were hooking up as fast as they could drop it to the bottom..  Needless to say they kept me on my toes... What a wonderful group this was and looking forward to seeing them soon.

4-1-13 Half Day Seabass Adventure

4-1-13   Today Zack, Tyler and their father David Tilley from Charlotte joined me for a Half Day Fishing Charter out of Bluewater Pointe Marina in Oak Island N,C,. The ocean had calmed down just enough to make fishing pleasurable, and Black Seabass was the species we were looking for. These boys kept me busy with each of them catching and releasing over 200 Seabass and 8 Sharks.4-1-13

3-30-13 Full Day Offshore Fishing

3-30-13    Today's fishing was non-stop action.  Joining me was Earl, Kory, and Mark. Our mission was to head offshore in search of King Mackerel and a species know as the False Albacore. We were hooked up the whole time and could only use one or two rods. After we were extremely tired of catching the False Albacore we started jigging for Grouper, Amber Jacks, and what ever else might decide to bite. We ended the day with 436 lbs of Albacore and caught and released Grouper, Sea Bass, and Jacks. Fishing Offshore can be extremely fun and if that's what you're looking for don't hesitate to call me. 3-30-13

Giant Great White Shark 2-15-13

2-15-13   Giant Great White Shark Off Holden Beach, NC. On Friday February 15 2013 Rigged and Ready Charters was on a normal day of fishing just 7 miles out when out of the blue a huge Great White Shark appeared out off nowhere. I Instantly grabbed my phone and started recording as this magnificent creature was circling the boat. Here is a short video of the 12 to 14ft. Great White Shark.

1-21-13 Half Day Nearshore

What a wonderful day this was. Joining me was Sherry and two kids Arron and Leigh from Boling Springs, NC. These kids just wanted to go have fun and catch some fish. So that's what we did. Loaded up and headed out about 7 miles to a spot I had fished a few days ago. This time I brought along some light inshore tackle so that we could have some serious fun with the Sharks that seem to be everywhere right now. I will have to admit this was the first time the kids had really ever fished in the Ocean before and they did great. We were hooked up with fish from the time we arrived to the time we decided to leave.. Half Day nearshore fishing is great way to introduce ocean fishing to kids for the first time. 1-21-13

1-20-13 Half Day Inshore

Today I had a family from Charlotte join me in on what was supposed to be a inshore red fishing trip. We left the dock at 8 am and the live well was full of bait and the tide was just right. Ran down the river and started fishing in areas that hold red fish. Around 11 am I was starting to get worried, we had not had one bite from a fish.. The wind started to pick up and was blowing a steady 20 knots and it was beginning to get a little tough to fish in certain areas. We decided to go fish the canals in Holden Beach to escape the wind. Once we arrived it wasnt 5 minutes and we were hooked up with a flounder.  We continued to fish the canals and ended the day hooking 4 flounder and boating 3. Tough day but ended it well..

1-19-13...Half Day Nearshore

I had the opportunity to take one of my good clients Earl out today along with his two daughters Taylor and Madison. Our mission today was catch and release Sea Bass. We loaded up 4 light weight jigging rods and headed for a nearshore reef about 7 miles out. It was like clock work.  Every time our baits hit the bottom we were pulling up fish. The one thing that made this trip interesting was the number of sharks we were catching. We were catching them two at a time and needless to say they kept me busy the whole trip. Its the middle of January and the temp. was in the high 60's. I did manage to take a pic. of the sunset on our way back home.1-19-13

1-14-13 Red Drum Missing In Action (M.I.A)

1-14-13   Man what a day. This was one of those days I would have given my right arm to have my client Micheal Roth and his mother  from Ocean Isle catch some fish.. The tide just wasnt going to  be good until later that evening and I knew conditions were not in my favor. We fished for 4 hours with out one single sniff from a fish. We pulled up in a spot that we had fished earlier that day and everything looked good. Tide was down and saw a little bit of bait swimming near bank.. I set the anchor, baited the hooks and within seconds we were hooked up and the fight was on. We ended up catching 3 redfish and a decent 17 in. flounder all in a 15 minute period and ended the day with a smile on everyone's face.. It's those kind of days that really make me appreciate what I do for a living and that not just fishing but making memories for people that will last a lifetime. 1-18-13january 14 2013

1-13-2013 Flounder Fishing Offshore

1-13-2013     This past Sunday I took some family out for a fun-filled day on the water. The winds were light and slight and the ocean looked like a lake. We decided to push-off  to a ledge 28 miles out in 80+ ft. of water. Over the years when bottom fishing for Black Sea Bass we would catch a flounder every now and then on squid. So today since the Black Sea Bass fishery is closed I wanted to try and do some jigging on the down side of the ledge away from all the sea bass.. It started off slow but after about 20 minutes of running away from the sea bass we finally picked up a nice 18in. flounder. We were drifting over the ledge and would pick up a sea bass on every drop but once we were down current and not marking any structure or bottom fish on the fish finder is when we knew we were in flounder territory. We managed to pick up 5 keeper flounder, the biggest 4+lbs. january 13 2013

5-18-12---------- 1/2 Day Trolling

5-18-12------ If you are ready to catch some Spanish Mackeral then now is the time to come on down. We had our limit today in less then 2 hours. I had two clients on the boat so we were able to keep 30 Spanis Mackeral and about dozen Blue Fish. Check out the pic. below.

5-17-12 Spanish Mackeral and Sharks

5-17-12          What a day we had today!!!!!  Took out some folks from Elizabeth Town, NC and we started off a little slow but we gradually started working pretty hard on the Spanish Mackeral. At one time we had three fish on at one time. Talk about exciting... For the last hour or so we went hunting for Sharks and it wasnt long at all we were hooked up and then another rod took off and we were doubled up on some very nice sharks. At one time " I Kid You Not " there were over 100 sharks swimming in a school right beside the boat. Makes you think twice before going swimming in the water.

5-16-12----- Big Sharks Everywhere

Today Rigged and Ready Charters had a half day fishing trip on the beach. The Spanish mackerel and Blue Fish are very thick and we worked on them for about two hours and then went shark fishing. First line in the water and a Black Tip Shark around 50lbs hammerd the bait and ran off 75 yards of line in the blink of an eye. We ended up with around 10 Sharks in about an hour with non stop action. It was really fun to watch as my client was doing battle with the biggest fish of his life!!!!

5-14-12 BIG SHARKS ROAMING THE BEACH.

Hey guys!!! Quick report. Ive been on the water for the past few days and the Spanish Mackeral, and BIG SHARKS are chewing like Bull Dogs right off the beach. The King Mackeral have showed up as well but are not as consistant. Its a hit or miss. Big Cobia are moving in on the near-shore reefs and can be caught while fishing for King Mackeral or we can specifically target them with live bait or artificials. The weather looks a little ruff offshore this week but don't let that stop you from catching some big fish near the beach. Gulfstream fishing has been on fire and continues to get better and better as summer time approaches with double digit catches of Mahi- Mahi with a hand full of wahoo in the 30 to 50 lb class mixed in.

5-7-12 Half Day Offshore

What a great day we had today. We originally were targeting big cobie near a reef right offshore when a huge bull red drum ate one of our baits. This fish was landed on 20lb test mono and put up a great fight. We took a picture, threw high fives and realesed her. I love seeing big fish like that realesed to live to fight another day.

5-6-12 Full Day Offshore.

Well today went really good. We caught lots of Amberjacks and boated 3 nice Mahi. Fishing is wide open, come on down and get in on some of the action.

5-1-12 Half Day Offshore Trip Produces Trigger Fish!!!!!!!!!

Today was a beautiful day on the water. Took a group out from Minnesota and they had never been fishing off out beach before, so the pressure was on to show them a good time. I decided since there were three adults and three children the best trip for them would be catch and release black bass. As soon as we located a huge school it was on. They were catching black bass two at a time and then the youngest of them all said LOOK AT WHAT I GOT... Low and behold he was hooked up to a trigger fish and we were only 7 miles out. I have never personally caught a trigger fish that close in before. So I thought it was neat and really enjoyed fishing with them today. Here a pic. of the trigger fish below.

4-30-12 Inshore Fishing For Reds and Flounder

Gulf Stream Fishing Heating Up..

Started off a little slow. We arrived to our fishing spot and the water temp. was just a little to cool. I had looked at a satalite shot the night before trying to find some warm water along the areas where I like to fish at in the Gulf Stream. I knew it was out there, so around 11 am we picked up and headed 14 more miles to a different fishing location and just as I had suspected the water temp. was almost 2 degrees warmer and the fish were biting like Bull Dogs. Customers were very happy and said they would be back soon because that was the best fishing trip they had ever been on EVER. Im looking forward to this year. With such a mild winter im thinking the fishing is just going to be outstanding.

3-24-12 Backwater Fishing

Today fishing was a little on the slow side but we managed 5 flounder and 8 trout. We started looking for redfish and had no luck. So we picked up and started bouncing around fishing docks and oyster beds. Statred off slow and finished with some meat in the cooler. Customers were happy and seeing that makes me happy. This coming Sat. if the weather allows us to get offshore I have a group coming in to do a Full Day Offshore Trip. So stay tuned

3-22-12

Went scouting today looking for some red fish. Hooked 5 and landed 4. Biggest one was 24 in, long. Full day charter Sat. and feel real confident on where to go to make these guys happy. Backwater fishing has been good all winter and will be getting better each day as summer time approaches. Looking for a good flounder bite earlier this year than before since we had such a mild winter..

1-3-12 Real Men Trout Fish When Its Blowing A Gale Out Of the North In 30 Degree Weather

Well I have officially overcome my objective for today. It was a painful lesson, but those trout were still biting. The wind chill was 35 degrees with winds gusting to 35 to 40 knots. It is now time to thaw out by the fire-place. Capt. Kevin Sneed--------------910-448-3474

1-2-12 Backwater Fishing Still On Fire

Backwater fishing in Holden Beach, NC. is still on fire. This has been my fourth trip in a row and every fish we hooked today was a keeper.!!! They have to be 14 inches in order to keep, but these fish are all around the 19 to 20 inch mark. A cold front is moving in tonight and the high tomorrow is supposed be in the mid 30's with winds gusting to 35 knots. Most people will be staying inside, but Im going as a challenge to my self just to see if I can still catch trout with the weather as bad as its going to be. STAY TUNED. Capt. Kevin Sneed---------------910-448-3474

1-1-12 New Years Day Backwater Fishing w/ Rigged & Ready Charters In Holden Beach, N.C.

While most people were recovering this morning from celebrating New Years, Rigged & Ready Charters was at again. Today we were on a mission, and big trout is what we were hunting. We left the dock around 7:30 am. and had a 15 mile run to where I knew the trout had been the last few days. Once we arrived it took me a good 5 minutes to thaw my hands out for I had left my gloves at the house. But no worries, we had perfect conditions, the tide was right and a cold front was on the way. Most times trout bite real  good before a front. It wasnt long before we were hooked up with a good solid 23in. trout. The action wasnt fast but every fish we caught  was well over the 20in. mark. We stayed in one spot and worked it real good.. We ended up with 11 Trout and to say it was good day would have been understatement. To book a trip or just to get information just give me a shout. I love to talk Fishing and better than that I love seeing and making my customers happy. Capt. Kevin Sneed---------------------------------   910-448-3474

12-31-11 New Years Eve Trout Fishing

What a beautiful day today was. The last day of 2011. The weather was in the high 60's and the trout bite has been good.  Mr. Flick joined me today along with his son and daughter, Hunter and Lillie. They are from the Roanoke, V.A. area, and vacation on a regular basis here in Holden Beach, N.C. We had hopes of hooking up on some Red Drum but the trout would not leave us alone..We had a very enjoyable trip and I hope they come back, I had as much fun as they did. There is no better feeling than teaching a kid how to throw a spinning rod and showing them how to work an artificial bait and getting out fished by them.. Good Job Lillie... Capt. Kevin Sneed

12-30-11 Backwater Fishing w/ Rigged and Ready Charters

Backwater fishing in Holden Beach, North Carolina is still holding good numbers of trout. A few friends and I  went exploring a few secret spots and we boated around 20 trout and we ended up with 10 keepers all over 15 inches. This was a great day. Good times and good friends. The purpose for this trip was to locate some fish because tomorrow I have a couple coming in from Roanoke, VA and I just wanted to have a good feeling about were to start. Normally if you can locate a body of fish like we did. there's a chance they will be in the same area or very close to it. Capt. Kevin Sneed

Do you ever feel like everything is just perfect? Well on this particular morning that was the feeling I had. On board were three customers that were so excited about running 40+miles offshore to go King mackerel Fishing. This is the part that wasnt so perfect. On our way to the fishing grounds I had a bucket full of cigar minnows thawing out for the ride out. Well we arrived to our destination which was a spot called the Snapper Charlie and can be a very productive place to limit out on King mackerel this time of year. As I started to get the rods out and started baiting the hooks, there was no bucket or any baits in the boat.. My guess is they flew out on the ride out.. To this day I dont understand what happened to them..So as im looking around the boat for some sibiki rigs, I decide to call Wally Traya who runs charters out of Oak Island, and it wasnt long he found somebody on the radio who had an extra box of minnows. Man what a relief that was. I give a Special thanks to wally and to Jim who runs the STIX SLINGER out of Little River, SC. If it wasnt for those two it would have been a very weird day trying to fish with no bait.. Long story short we got the bait and had a 9 fish limit by 10:am and ended up releasing 15 more until we ran out of bait. The seas were calm and it made for a great ride home with a cooler slam full of fish. Good weather, Happy customers, and a safe trip home makes for a perfect day. One lesson to all fisherman who are offshore, treat them as if they are family and help out if possible.. 11-20-11 Wahoo Fishing w/ Captain Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready Charters

[caption id="attachment_28" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Wahoo's a crossing"][/caption] When it comes to Wahoo fishing i absolutley love it. We left the dock around 5 am Sunday morning and headed for the gulf stream!!! We had a 60+ mile run ahead of us and the weather was not cooperating. After an almost 3 hour ride we arrived at the steeples and deployed a spread of daisey chains, islanders and sea witches. The water temp. was 75 degrees, perfect for wahoo fishing. We had been trolling for around 2 hours with no luck and all of a sudden i see a very nice wahoo jump out of the water and crash on one of the baits in the spread and the reel began to scream. As i was handing the rod off the long line began to scream. We were hooked up with two Hoo's. Talking about getting excited!!!!!!!! That was awesome. We finally got em close enough to the boat to were I was able to sink the gaff in them. The customers I had on the boat had never caught Wahoo before and they were absolutely shaking by the time the fish were laying on ice .. One gentlemen said that fish kicked my butt as he sat down to rest..We trolled a few more hours with no luck and the short rigger got slammed by a Mahi-Mahi and fight was on again. We didint catch a bunch of fish but the fish we did catch were very respectable in size. 11-12-11 Gulf Stream Wahoo and Sailfishing w/ Captain Kevin Sneed of Rigged and Ready Charters 910-448-3474

Man what a day!!! Perfect sea condtions and perfect weather equals a good day. The plan on this particular trip was to meet at 4:30am saturday morning. We had a plan of running offshore and fishing around the Blackjack Hole and the Steeples which is around 55 to 60 miles offshore. Once we cleared the inlet we pointed the bow offshore and away we went. After about 45 minutes of running the sun popped out over the horizon, and it was clear that everybody on the boat was anticipating on hooking some BIG FISH today. I love that feeling!!! We arrived to our destination which was on a temperature break just inshore of the Black Jack. Shortly after setting the lines I was kinda amazed that I had all the lines set and none of them had gone off yet. It wasnt long after that the port rigger popped out of the clip and the reel screamed ,however we didnt get a good solid hook up.  Then another line on the starboard rigger popped out but still no hook up. I ran to the reel and picked it up and put it in free spool. Engaged the reel and the fish was there, It  jumped out of the water and happend so quick nobody could tell what it was. We fought this fish for over an hour not knowing what we had on the line. Finally we started making progress. When the fish came to the surface it was clear the we were hooked up to a very nice sailfish. At that point evrybody was throwing high fives and hooping and hollering. That was the hi-light of the day. We ended up with 3 wahoo's all over 30 pounds, the biggest topping out at 49.70lbs and 1 nice king mackeral. Every fish we had was a trophy.  I love it when a plan comes together.
